Welcome to the home of 33-by-33! Thank you for joining me in this craftivism project and for helping me celebrate turning 33 in such a meaningful way.
From now until my birthday–July 26, 2018–the series of embroidered pieces below will be available. Each piece will generate a $33 donation to the non profit group listed. My goal is to generate $3300 by my birthday–and make a bigger impact than I could achieve alone. I invite you to take a look at the pieces available, and if inclined, to purchase one or send the link to friends you think may find them inspiring. If you aren’t interested in the pieces, I invite you to make a donation directly to one of the organizations listed in any amount (and let me know! Every bit counts and means so much!). Links to either purchase or donate directly are listed below, as well as links to learn more about the work each non-profit is doing.
I know we share the goal of a safe world where we each enjoy equal rights. The last few weeks have reminded me of just how much work we have in front of us and of how meaningful it is to me, but also how many of you are working towards the same goal. Please let me know if you have questions about this project or any of the organizations I’ve selected. You can track the project’s progress via Instagram at @BeeBeeBrooklyn.
Thank you all!
I raise up my voice – not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard. -Malala Yousafzai
Moms Demand Action
This grass-roots group is a branch of Everytown and works to organize mothers and other community members to force the issue of gun safety across our country. Through their work, they have helped ensure common-sense gun control overwhelmingly supported by citizens makes it past the NRA’s lobbyists and into law. Supporting them means our families will be safer and the NRA’s hold on legislators will be weakened.

American Civil Liberties Union
The ACLU needs no introduction. It has remained an important group to me through its work to challenge unlawful and unconstitutional policies, while also defending individuals who would be unable to do so without support.
Human Rights Campaign
The HRC works to protect the civil rights of LGBTQ individuals. They provide a voice for the community by both lobbying for equal rights legislation and running education programs for the public.
I have a hard time finding words for how much this organization means to me. It is one of the most staunch defenders of women’s rights today, not to mention an incredibly important health care provider. If having Eli has taught me anything, it is that reproductive health care–family planning, pre-partum, and post-partum–is something every woman has a right to receive. It should not be limited or outlawed, and it should be readily accessible to all. I truly do not see a way forward for women being recognized and treated as equals without the freedom to control their own bodies and make their own health care decisions.
